An iLovePDF alternative with no upload and no account
iLovePDF is a Barcelona-based suite with an enormous tool range, an ISO 27001 certification and eIDAS-backed signatures. It is fast and it is free for a lot of what people need. As with any hosted tool, the trade is that your file is transmitted and held — in their case for up to two hours.
Every claim about iLovePDF on this page links to iLovePDF’s own documentation and was checked in August 2026. If something here is out of date, it is a mistake rather than a tactic — our own posture is documented too.
iLovePDF and Benchnook, side by side
| iLovePDF | Benchnook | |
|---|---|---|
| Where files are processed | On their cloud infrastructure. Their security page does not describe any browser-side processing.[source] | In the browser tab, by WebAssembly and Canvas. There is no upload endpoint to send them to. |
| How long files are retained | Automatically and permanently deleted within two hours of processing; you can also delete manually from the download screen. Signed documents are retained up to five years for legal reasons.[source] | Not applicable — nothing is ever received, so there is nothing to retain or delete. |
| Encryption | HTTPS in transit and encryption at rest.[source] | No. There is no login, no profile and no email collected. |
| Certifications | ISO/IEC 27001:2017; GDPR compliant; eIDAS for signatures.[source] | Yes, once the page has loaded — the processing needs no network at all. |
Our column is the same inventory as our privacy page, which lists every request the app can make.
Where the difference actually matters
Two hours is short. Zero is a different category
A two-hour retention window is a good policy, honestly disclosed. But it is a policy — a promise about what happens to a file they hold. Benchnook has no retention policy for your files because it never holds one. That is not a stronger promise; it is the absence of a need for one.
Signed documents are kept for five years
Their own security page states signed documents are retained up to five years to meet legal requirements around e-signatures. That is a legitimate and normal obligation. It is worth knowing about before signing something sensitive, and it is the kind of long tail that only exists once a file has been transmitted.
No account, so no profile to accumulate
Benchnook has no login, so there is no record of which documents you worked on or when. Your recent tools are stored in your own browser and vanish when you clear it.
What iLovePDF does better
- ISO/IEC 27001:2017 certified, which is an independent audit we have not had.
- eIDAS-qualified electronic signatures — a legal instrument, not a feature we can approximate.
- A larger PDF tool range than ours, including OCR and comparison tools we do not have.
- Desktop and mobile apps, plus a documented public API.
If one of those is what you need, use iLovePDF. This page is here to help you pick, not to win.

Questions people ask
Is iLovePDF safe to use?
By its published policies, yes — ISO/IEC 27001:2017, HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest, and automatic deletion within two hours. This page makes no claim otherwise. The difference is that Benchnook does not need to receive your file in the first place.
Does iLovePDF keep my files?
Their security page states files are automatically and permanently deleted within two hours of processing, and that you can delete them manually from the download screen. Signed documents are the exception and are retained up to five years for legal compliance.
What does iLovePDF have that Benchnook does not?
eIDAS-qualified e-signatures, OCR, a public API, mobile and desktop apps, and an ISO 27001 certification. Our range is narrower and deliberately so.
Is Benchnook free?
Everything is currently free with nothing behind a paywall. Some heavier features may become paid later; the tools you use today will not be taken away from you.
