Terms
Last updated August 2026. Using Benchnook means accepting these.
What you are getting
A set of tools that run in your web browser. Most are free to use with no account. A paid licence lifts specific limits, listed on the pricing page. We may change what the free tier includes, but a limit that is free today will not become paid for a licence you have already bought during its term.
Your files stay yours
You keep every right in the files you open and everything you produce with these tools. We claim no licence over them, and could not exercise one if we did: your files are processed in your browser and never reach us. See privacy.
Use it lawfully
Do not use these tools on files you have no right to, or to remove protection from documents you are not entitled to open. The PDF tool removes a password you already know; it is not a means of getting into something that is not yours. What you do with a tool that runs on your own machine is your responsibility.
Licences, billing and refunds
- Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the term you have already paid for.
- If the paid features do not work as described, tell us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you. We would rather refund someone than argue with them.
- Payments are handled by our payment provider acting as merchant of record. They are the seller on your receipt and handle tax; their terms cover the transaction itself.
- A licence is for you or your organisation. Publishing a key so others can use it is the one thing that will get it revoked.
What we do not promise
These tools are provided as they are. Browsers differ, files are strange, and a conversion or transcription may occasionally produce a poor result — so keep your originals, and check anything that matters before relying on it. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months, which for most people is nothing.
Changes
If these terms change, the date above changes. A change that materially reduces what a current paid licence includes will not apply until that licence renews.
